Thirteen pure teams will go to the post when the Suburban High School Hockey League launched its new season later this month.

The biggest change will be in the American Division where just three teams: defending champion Hatboro-Horsham, Abington, and Plymouth Whitemarsh are pure and eligible for the division title and Flyers Cup consideration. Four other schools have paired off. Wissahickon will combine with Bensalem and Springfield (Montco) will merge with William Tennent. Those teams will not bode eligible for postseason honors.

The National Division will include 10 teams: Defending champion North Penn will be joined by Council Rock South, Council Rock North, Neshaminy, Pennsbury, Pennridge, Souderton, Central Bucks East, Central Bucks West, and Central Bucks South.

The 2026-27 season will kick off on Wednesday, October 28 with a five-game card highlighted by North Penn taking on Central Bucks East (7:20 at Hatfield Ice) and Hatboro-Horsham facing Wissahickon-Bensalem (8:30 at the same venue.

Quote of the week

“I’ve had the opportunity to coach a number of men now when then they were younger. Staying in touch with them over the years at alumni games and things like that is one of the most enjoyable pieces for me.”
