Team USA Women Winners at Olympics

The United States got off to a successful start Sunday morning in the Olympic tournament. The Americans overcame an early 1-0 deficit to post a 3-1 win over Finland.

Monique Lamoureux-Morando and Kendall Coyne scored goals in the second period to give the Americans the lead. Dani Cameranesi scored into an empty net to a count for the final margin.

In another Sunday game, Canada beat Russia 5-0.

The U.S. will play Russia Tuesday morning U.S. time (7:10 face-off). Their last group gam against Canada will be very early Thursday morning (2:40 a.m.

The mens’ tournament begins Wednesday. The U.S. will play Solvenia at 7:10 Eastern Time Wednesday morning.

GA Ready for IIHL Playoffs

Germantown Academy closed its regular season on Tuesday with a 4-0 win over Episcopal Academy. The Patriots (11-1) are the top seed in the Independence League playoffs which commence on Tuesday.

The lineup features balanced scoring. Mark Dobson leads the team with 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points. Tyler Dolan (10 goals, six assists), Andrew Miao (five goals, 11 assists), and Moseley Schwartz (five goals, 11 assists, are next).

GA will host a semifinal game Tuesday afternoon at Oaks (4 p.m. start) against Springside Chestnut Hill

Tuesday’s winner advances to the championship game on Thursday afternoon at 3:50 at the University of Pennsylvania’s Class of 1923 Rink against either second-seeded Episcopal or third seed Springside-Pennington.

That game will conclude their season. IIHL teams do not participate in the Flyers Cup
